About
The Memorial Museum‑estate is located in the heart of old Kislovodsk. At the end of the 19th century, the "White Villa" (unofficial name) was the summer summer residence of the Peredvizhnik artist, artillery Major General Nikolai Alexandrovich Yaroshenko.
The White Villa is the only preserved old noble manor in the South of Russia. It belonged to the artist's family from 1885 to 1915. At various times, numerous friends of the Yaroshenko couple came here on vacation: Dmitry Mendeleev, actress Pelageya Strepetova, philosopher Vladimir Solovyov, writers Gleb Uspensky and Vsevolod Garshin, artists Ilya Repin, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Mikhail Nesterov, Nikolai Dubovsky. F.I. Chaliapin, L.V. Sobinov, K.S. Stanislavsky, S.V. Rachmaninov and many other prominent Russian figures of science, culture and art visited here.
The museum's exhibitions feature works by Russian Peredvizhnik artists: V.G. Perov, I.N. Kramskoy, A.I. Kuindzhi, G.G. Myasoedov, the Makovsky brothers, Fyodor Vasiliev, Isaac Levitan, Vasily Vereshchagin, and others. The memorial exhibitions of Mikhail Nesterov, Nikolai Dubovsky, Apollinarius Vasnetsov and Nikolai Kasatkin are a special pride.
The Yaroshenko Museum is still the center of true Russian spirituality and culture, a place of pilgrimage for art connoisseurs from all corners of our vast country.

Main balcony of the house (facade of the "White Villa") It was hand-painted by Nikolai Alexandrovich Yaroshenko himself and his famous guests. This painting was done in the technique of antique frescoes, that is, on raw plaster — "Pompeian".
Thanks to this, the house became a unique art object during the artist's lifetime. Unfortunately, the original frescoes, created in the 19th century by the owner and his guests from the art world (for example, Arkhip Kuindzhi), were eventually lost (whitewashed when a communal apartment was set up in the house).
The modern painting of the balcony is a carefully recreated reconstruction, executed in oil, which recalls this amazing artistic tradition of the "White Villa" — turning architecture into a canvas.
